Retreating to write an album

I'm so thankful to be able to take the next three days and set them aside for songwriting. I'm planning to do a little live-in-studio worship album later in May but just haven't had the space to focus on finishing the songs lately. I want to give them the attention they deserve so I'm really thankful for my friend Tom and his wife for letting me lock myself in their upstairs bedroom for several days to work. I'm also thankful for my wife's understanding and support. Designating a time and space for a specific task always helps me draw a line around the work, leaving out the distractions and leaving in all that requires deeper attention.

Once the songs are finished, I'm planning to gather a little group of folks to sit around and sing them together. We'll set up the recording gear and get a little album out of it. Having the more natural sound of a small acoustic worship time really appeals to me. I think it will be a good time with some people I love. In the end, if it turns out I'll make it available online.

Say a prayer for me as I work on these songs the next few days. I'll post an update afterwards.
